The Hype about Cellulite Pills

There are numerous cellulite “treatments” on the market today from anti-cellulite creams through to treatments costing thousands of dollars. Cellulite, being the dimply, bumpy skin on the buttocks and thighs of (particularly) women, has been defined as many things over the years. It has thought to have been a result of a combination of excessive fat on the body, hormonal fluctuations (mainly estrogen), poor diet, insufficient exercise and poor circulation. And so many treatments today focus on trying to improve body circulation, smooth the skin and encourage fat loss to help diminish the look of cellulite. One of these are anti-cellulite pills, a popular choice among many today.

What Anti-Cellulite Pills Do

Anti-cellulite pills are a herbal remedy which was introduced in the 1990’s. Sales boomed, and there are still copious amounts on the market today. They are available over the counter and are comprised of a blend of different extracts such as grape seed extract, fish oil, sweet clover extract, borage (seed oil), gingko biloba extract and soya lecithin. Whatever the concoction, they are designed to either speed the metabolism to as to break down body fat, improve body circulation, reduce fluid build-up and protect body tissues. However, despite all the hype and high number of sales, no scientific studies have shown that these actually improve the look of cellulite.

Side Effect of Cellulite Pills

Probably the worst side effect that cellulite pills can have on you is on your wallet! Most are expensive and do very little to nothing to change the look of cellulite. Although, when taken in inappropriate doses, cellulite pills can result in diarrhea, constipation or in some cases, allergic reactions (such a rash, hives or nausea). If you do suffer from allergies or intolerances, it is important that if you choose to try any form of cellulite pill is to read the label carefully before purchase.

Alternatives To Cellulite Pills

There are a number of different treatments and products on the market designed to reduce and eliminate cellulite. Should you wish to try any of them, the best thing to do is to do your homework. Read the pros and well as the cons about the treatment, and if you can talk to people who may have already tried it. Like anything, treatments will vary from person to person and none are guaranteed to work. Also, remember to keep in mind that you need to do the groundwork before trying any treatments. Maintain a healthy body weight, eat well, exercise regularly, and drink plenty of water. In doing these things first, you may find that you feel so much better about yourself that the cellulite doesn’t bother you!
